OutOfMemory Errors

Every now and then, one gets an OutOfMemory error when using ReclaiMe tools.

These errors occur when there are many files (more than 10 millions of files) on the partition (with File Recovery), or when the RAID is too damaged (with Free RAID Recovery).

OutOfMemory errors occur almost exclusively on x86 (32-bit) Windows, and are typically solved by moving to an x64 (64-bit) Windows, even with the same amount of physical memory.

With File Recovery, you can try stopping the scan earlier than memory runs out, especially when recovering NTFS filesystem. See this page for more details on exactly when to stop.
